Automated and intelligent ways for claims clearinghouse

Hi,

Just wanted to know if the SMART team has worked on any use cases for intelligent  claims integration into any smart app. I am not very familiar with the U.S electronic clearinghouse systems, so could you please shed some info on that as well. So for example, if there are intelligent robots which can establish patient identity(by a id card or face rec with confirmations from the EHR/EMR system in workflow) and provide a medical service in a clinic, in what automated ways can claims be made with a ack/nack response from the insurance/claims submission gateway? What are the API level implications for the developer of such a service with automated claims integration?

Has the SMART team worked any any such real world use-case or considering the API to be made so that the developers can take advantage of automated billing solutions. Would be quite keen to know the tech challenges as well the business challenges that need to be solved before health providers in U.S are to adopt such a smart devices solution?
