General Help regarding RPM measurement

Hi, i am planning to make an RPM meter for my boat with Atmega8. 

While searching for the interfacing the alternator W wire, i found this project.

I cant get the interfacing circuit for measuring the RPM from W wire. 

Can i get the just the interfacing circuit which can connect the W wire and Atmega8.

i already developed the code for measuring the RPM using Timer.

Hello.

 

For simplicity, the design used on v0.0.2 worked well.  If you are interested in more sensitivity, using a VSR like on the Gen 3 VSR can help.  I might look at the LM1815 instead of the NCV1124 I used, the TI part seems a bit more suited for alternators.
