Youcan search for gift cards by code or by customer. Click the search and filter button, and use the search bar on the Gift cards page. To search by the full gift card code, enter it without spaces.
After a gift card is created, the full gift card code is visible only to the customer because gift cards are considered currency. Only the last four characters are displayed in the list of gift cards.
You can filter gift cards on the Gift cards page. Filtering is useful when you're trying to find gift cards that match particular criteria. For example, you could filter by Status to list all the gift cards that have been deactivated.
You can sort gift cards on the Gift cards page. Sorting is useful when you are trying to find gift cards that match particular criteria. For example, you could sort by Expiry date (ascending) to view the gift cards that are closest to expiring first.
If your customer used a gift card to pay for the purchase, then you can apply the refund to the gift card and its balance is updated automatically. If you only refund part of an order that was purchased using a gift card and other methods of payment, then you can manually change the refund amount that is applied to each payment method.
If a customer made a purchase using a gift card and another method of payment, then when you perform a partial refund, the refund is applied to the gift card first, until the gift card reaches the full amount available for refund. The rest of the refund is applied to the other payment methods.
You can issue a refund for any purchased gift cards. Gift cards created directly from your Shopify admin or from Shopify POS can't be refunded, as no payment was captured for those gift cards. Learn more about issuing refunds.
If you refund a purchased gift card, then it's automatically deactivated. You need to specify the quantity of gift cards that you want to refund, but you don't have to restock them or refund the full amount paid.
If a customer loses a gift card code or needs a balance update, then you can email an updated gift card to its original customer. If a gift card has been partially used, then only the remaining balance is sent to the customer.
You can export your gift cards to a CSV file to view their details in a spreadsheet. This can be useful for reviewing information about outstanding balances, or for other records. You can't import the gift card CSV to create gift card products. The gift card CSV contains the following information about your gift cards:
If you export up to one page of gift cards, up to 50 gift cards, then the CSV file is downloaded by your browser. If you export more than 50 gift cards, then the CSV file is emailed to you. If you aren't the store owner, then the file is sent to the store owner's email as well.
If you are planning on opening your CSV file in Excel, Numbers, or another spreadsheet program, then click CSV for Excel, Numbers, and other spreadsheet programs. Otherwise, click Plain CSV file.
You can get Google Play gift codes by email, physical gift cards, or other methods of delivery. Find where to buy gift cards or digital gifts. When you redeem this code, the gift will add to your Google Play balance or Play Library. You can also get Google Play promo codes, which can add to your Google Play balance or give you specific apps and digital content.
It's not possible to share or transfer content between accounts on Google Play, even if you own both accounts. If you have multiple accounts on your device, make sure you sign in to the account you want to use before you complete your purchase.
Hello, I have the "business" plan set up for this website so I can sell electronic gift cards. They are the only product sold in the online store and are to be used in person, in the beauty salon, for a service or a product. I'm trying to figure out how to keep a good track of them. I did a test purchase and the gift recipient only receives the gift card code number in the downloadable pdf. I can look into the orders but I only can view the order number and the buyer info but since the buyer and recipient of the gift card don't match, how can I review and redeem gift cards?
I understand you can redeem a gift card using the Commerce App but it's only compatible with phones and tablets. Is there a way to do this on a desktop? Am I missing something?

I want customers to use the discount code at checkout and use their gift cards to pay for their cart. At the moment, my shopify checkout has only one field "Add a discount code or gift card" (picture below).
I tested this out on my end, and I do see that there is only one field for both in the checkout (Gift card or discount code). However, I can confirm that it is definitely possible to enter both as long as you enter the gift card first and the discount code second. See below for example:
As long as you have active gift cards & discount codes available in your store, you will have the option to enter both in the one field at checkout. From the screenshot you have shared, I can see the field says "gift card or discount code" which means you do indeed have both active. I suggest testing this out yourself then let me know how you get on.
Because you're using discounts at the moment, I thought you may find our blog post on 19 ways to use discounts handy. This blog post will give you an idea of what might be the best strategy for the discounts you offer, as this can differ depending on the products you sell. It also shows many different options for presenting these offers, such as an abandoned cart or customer loyalty offers.

We were running in to the same issue, of people not being able to apply discount codes and a gift card code to the same order, so I'm happy to see that we can do both if applying the gift card code first.
However, I'm wondering how to fix the issue when we have a discount code active on the site (for example, having an automatic discount code on the entire site for a Labor Day sale, etc). When we have this automatic discount code active on the site, our customers are unable to enter their gift cards - and instead receive an error message stating that "two discount codes cannot be applied". Is there a solution for this? Thanks!
Hi, is it also possible for customers to enter multiple gift card codes in one purchase transaction? For example, a customer's order is amounting to total of $25, and he/she has 2 separate gift cards of $10. Can they use those two $10-gift cards in that single order?
Currently, the admin allows customers to use a gift card and a discount code at the same time. This is because Shopify treats gift cards as a form of payment rather than a discount. Therefore, it's not possible to restrict the usage of both at the same time natively within Shopify.
You could consider using a third-party app that allows you to customize the discount rules. Apps such as Stackable, Discount Ninja, or Ultimate Special Offers might help you set up more complex discount rules and restrictions.
Hi, similar to how the Bulk Discounts app works, is it possible to make an app that allows me to import from CSV a large number of gift cards I sold through a third party? I imagine the CSV would need a 16 digit alpha-numeric code, the customers name and email, and the value of the card along with a few other data points.
While this is not currently supported, there is an existing feature request for similar functionality (generating discount codes in bulk) that I took the liberty of upvoting for us. I also added your feedback here as a use case.
We're in the same boat. Have over 2500 gift card codes created for our old site and now need a way to activate them for this site. The bulk dicount generator app does not work because it won't leave a remaining balance for the customer - just a one time discount.
Since 2015 when the original post in this thread was posted this hasn't been added to the Shopify admin natively. so if that's the way you'd like to distribute the credit, you'd need to manually issue those cards one by one, which would be an extremely onerous task if you have more than a good few.
1. Upload your customers with a CSV, following the doc right over here. There's a template on that doc; when you're filling it out, put tags on your customers equal to the reward level you'd like to give them; Referral 25 for example, but you can use whatever works for you!
