Sing at your own risk because you might shed a tear. Formed in Indonesia, D'Masiv released an impressive line-up of notable albums and tracks, including 'Cinta Ini Membunuhku', under their debut album Perubahan. Translated as "this love is killing me", this song describes a relationship that is deprived of love and filled with pain and hatred.

SAMSONS really do know how to evoke the most beautiful memories into our lives. This track distinctly became one of the band's timeless classics that revolve around nostalgia and beautiful moments in the past.

Truly the go-to karaoke anthem for couples out there. A duet by Indonesian singers and actors Irwansyah and Acha Septriasa, this track represents the deep and profound love that the pair holds for one another. Fun fact, 'My Heart' was featured on the soundtrack of the 2006 Indonesian film Heart, starring the duo themselves!

A classic that we listened to while growing up. Known for their soul-stirring and touching songwriting, Ungu's 'Andai Ku Tahu' touches on how one seeks repentance and forgiveness for his wrongdoings.

This is your time to pour your heart and soul out. 'Tak Bisa Memilihmu' by Malaysia's indie rock outfit 6ixth Sense tells the tale of an individual torn between two partners, essentially stuck in a love triangle.

Time to round up the girls. Billed as Indonesia's Queen of Pop, Rossa has a slew of notable tracks that we've come to love growing up including 'Pudar' from her album Kembali (2004). This album sold more than 800,000 copies after nine months of its release in Indonesia.

Could this be the anthem of 2005? Agnez Mo has won numerous awards, including five Nickelodeon Indonesia Kids' Choice Awards and four MTV Indonesia Awards. 'Tak Ada Logika' is just one of the most memorable songs that has to be in our queue.

The chorus is so contagious that even the shyest one in the room will sing along. With 27 million views on YouTube, there's no doubt that ST12's 'P.U.S.P.A' was a hit in the Malay-Indo community in the early 2000s.

This will surely hype you up through the night. With several awards, including Double Platinum, under their belt, the Indonesian rock act have certainly released a couple of earworms, like 'Jujur', that are still thought about (and sung) to this day.

My family conversed primarily in English, to the point that any Malay word that left our mouths automatically sounded awkward to our ears. The Malay friends I made were also more comfortable speaking in English, so the only time I ever spoke Malay was during my mother tongue classes in school.

Going on exchange is like a rite of passage for every university kid. And for me, it was also a chance to finally live among these ang moh people I so adored. In the spring semester of 2017, I was fortunate enough to be one of 20 students from Singapore Management University (SMU) who was selected to attend Universit Paris-Dauphine for 6 months.

But as it turns out, with a lack of Malay presence in France, I became the sole Malay person within the school I was in. That, as well as the fact that my father passed away just a few months prior, made my first few months in Paris a real struggle.

As there was no Malay food where I was, I found myself eating kebabs every other day. It could be due to desperation, but to me, it was the closest thing to Malay food I had.

It was the first day of our Cross-Cultural Management course. Our professor had tasked us to introduce ourselves by stating our name, country, as well as the culture we identified with. Seeing how my fellow Chinese Singaporean pals had already gone ahead, I thought I could provide my classmates with another perspective by talking about my Malay culture.

It has been years since then, and I still clearly remember how I felt. While that incident instantly proved how some foreigners have no idea who or what Malay people are, it took me a little longer to realise that the lingering annoyance was a result of pride in my roots.

Needless to say, I was ecstatic. I spent the remainder of that break telling her about our Singaporean Malay history and language. And while our conversation was cut short after our professor came back to class, I let her know that I was open to sharing more whenever the opportunity arose.

In yet another lesson from the same course, the class was in the midst of a discussion regarding our difficulties in trying to get used to a foreign land. Being the total Singaporean that I am, I decided to bring up the topic of food.

All these realisations I had gradually made me more open to accepting the Malay part of my identity. As Singaporeans and foreigners alike came to ask me more questions, I found that I was glad to share bits of my culture with them.

Towards the tail end of my time there, my family came to Paris to celebrate Hari Raya. And as my mother was planning to whip up a feast consisting of ketupat, chicken rendang and sayur lodeh, I saw it as the perfect opportunity to invite a few of my foreign friends over to show them a key part of my culture.

Additionally, I gradually began listening to more Malay music. I used to tune out whenever my pals belted their hearts out to a Malay song during karaoke sessions. But after coming back, I started paying more attention to these songs, noting down the title and the artists before giving the songs a proper listen at home.

It currently represents over 340 locally incorporated recording companies and businesses, all of which are involved in the production, manufacturing and distribution of local and international sound, music video and karaoke recording.[2] This accounts for around 95% of all legitimate recordings commercially available in the music market of Malaysia.[2]

Starting the week ending 24 March 2022, the Top 20 International and Domestic Singles chart was reconfigured to be exclusively for International single releases, while the Top 10 Domestic Singles chart was reconfigured into a Malay songs chart. Also in the same week, the Top 10 Chinese Singles chart was introduced. [6]

Great space for karaoke. They had at least 5 mics. Easy to use song choosing. Lots more options for alcohol which you don't often get at other karaoke places. They also had yum sweet patato chips..

Good place for karaoke. Place is clean and they provide mic covers for hygiene. One drink is included. Only thing is the duration is limited to 2 hours only and only open at night now. Time passes very quickly when having fun.

This is the place by which other karaoke spots in Melbourne should be measured. The song selection is good, the tools are good, the room service is good, the drink prices are good (be creative) and calamari and fries with sauce delivered to the room can't be beat. 5 stars for K-Box. I had mum's birthday there and they were really accommodating of us.
