Regarding transition to Jakarta-EE 9: Would it be an option to publish transformed jars to maven central?
Similar to what Wildfly project is doing in their release with their own transformer tools.

Yes, that is an option. Not sure if it going to be worth it.

We are very close to start this work. Just last week we got a PR to SR Config with the Jakarta update. The plan is to release new versions (probably Jan 2022 - no compromise), because Wildly is going to need them.

Cheers,
Roberto

Great news! So I'll just wait ;-)
Obviously I'll have to think about my own situation, too.
btw: With upgrading there will be no new releases for EE-8, correct?

The plan is to support both for a limited time (until both Wildfly and Quarkus move to Jakarta), and then we will only release security fixes.

To clarify further, the dates are not confirmed yet. They are being aligned with Wildfly and Quarkus.

Cheers,
Roberto

Thanks for the info! I also found the relevant pull request in GitHub (jamezp:mp5) and built the package myself. Good news: Everything working fine with my library!
One wish for christmas: It would be great if we could have a "pre-release" of the 3.0-Version. This would help to streamline everything in depending projects so I'd be actually ready to switch to JEE-9 as soon as wildfly and smallrye are released in 2022...
Kind regards & Merry Christmas,
Gunnar

Hi Gunnar,

Good to hear.

Yes, the intention is to start working of the initial set of project and provide an RC release with the Jakarta rename. I hope I can do it with at least SR Config this week.

Cheers,
Roberto
