Hello there,
Wow, it feels like it has been ages, and in a sense, I suppose it has. All three of this batch's releases have been in the works for quite some time. They've been fraught with delays and manufacturing issues, but at long last, they are finally here along with brand new small doses t-shirt in tow.
Unless you're a stranger to small doses, you are likely quite familiar with the work under his Hoor-paar-Kraat moniker. This new double cd release collects all of the recordings he made with some collaborators while living in Eureka, CA. This collection is comprised of previously released and unreleased material and represents a unique offering from HPK.
The Ritual Inclusion of Code is no doubt unfamiliar to you, as this is their debut release. However, the people behind the project have been behind some amazing work. Fans of dark ambient, industrial, and power electronics are advised to check this one out. It was great to have Seldon Hunt involved as well!
Formication was in all honesty, unknown to me when an unmastered version of The Eyes of Ereodern Riviema crossed my desk. This one completely blew me away. It's incredibly unique music from the post-industrial wasteland. It's an astounding release, and I highly recommend you check out the samples. Don't miss the limited version with an extra cdr with remixes from Locrian, Hoor-paar-Kraat, and Formication.
The t-shirts came out fantastic as well. I sent Demian Johnston my logo, told him I loved his work, and asked him to take a stab at a shirt design. The final product was basically his first pass at it, and it's brilliant.
Without further ado, here's the official info with links to samples:
Hoor-paar-Kraat: The Eureka Tapes 2CD
The pieces that make up The Eureka Tapes (The Complete Recordings) were all created while Hoor-paar-Kraat’s Anthony Mangicapra was living in the town of Eureka, California. Indeed, the town’s name is apt as they represent a “Eurekamoment” for Hoor-paar-Kraat as a musical entity; a figurative spilling of the bath waters as Hoor-paar-Kraat found their sound. The hints of alchemical transcendence that peeped through the cracks of previous releases come brazenly into view throughout Eureka Tapes (The Complete Recordings). Music dissolves into explorations of texture, acoustic phenomena and the psyche.
Originally issued as three separate volumes in a variety of hard to find formats (A Whisper in the Sow’s Ear, a 3” CD; Graduating from Clocks to Watches C55 and Taxonomy of Divine Organisms, a CDr made to accompany, and sold only at, Mangicapra’s exhibit of paintings, “Above & Below”), The Eureka Tapes (The Complete Recordings) collects the three original volumes and will be released jointly by Small Doses and Basses Frequences. In addition to the original releases,The Eureka Tapes (The Complete Recordings) also includes Hoor-paar-Kraat’s side of their split cassette with Last and a previously unreleased recording from the same sessions. Spanning styles and moods like some kind of emotional suspension bridge, Hoor-paar-Kraat’s music finds itself traveling the same surreal by-ways as Nurse With Wound, irr. app. (ext.), The Hafler Trio and Coil’s more ritualistic output. -John Kealy

The Ritual Inclusion of Code: Beta Wave Nemisis CD
The Ritual Inclusion of Code is a monumental collaboration between Daniel Jansson (Deadwood) and Osman Arabi (20.sv, Seeker). Beta Wave Nemisis is their premiere recording. Both men's influences and efforts are immediately apparent and blend effortlessly to create this thirty-one minute document of a long journey. Dark ambient textures blend with industrial soundscapes. Harsh noise floats with minimal drone and power electronics vocalizations. One movement flows well into the next, making for an intense and epic debut recording. The art and design was handled by Seldon Hunt.

Formication: The Eyes of Erodern Riviema
Formication is Alec Bowman & Kingsley Ravenscroft, the miraculous electric musical ensemble from Nottingham in the UK. They create unique rhythmic, chaotic yet structured works, twisting a variety of sounds into creeped-out electronica, frozen ambience and sporadic wayward beats. The music of Formication strays into dark territory, inhabiting forgotten grounds; less of a showcase for new technology and more an essential medium for the expression of the human psyche, where the soul is the interface. Described by The Wire magazine as ‘sonic occultists’, they can be found “wandering a dream landscape somewhere between the ritual ambience of Coil and the electronic space drift of Tangerine Dream”. The Eyes of Erodern Riviema is a their most realzied work to date and a masterpiece start to finish. In addition to the regular cd edition, there is a limited (93 numbered copies) edition that includes an extra insert and a cdr with remixes by Hoor-paar-Kraat, Locrian, and Formication.
