Hey gang,
I hope this finds you welll. Things have been a little hectic around here. I'm getting hitched tomorrow and just like the label, it's a DIY affair, which has us doing a ton of running around. It's an exciting time to say the least.
Also exciting is this new Sky Burial CD. Mike Page has been working on this disc for quite some time. It's got an incredible list of collaborators, and through him, I'm getting a chance to be involved with a project with some of my musical heroes. It's an amazing disc, and easily my favorite of Mike's work under any of his monikers. I've been a fan of his for years, and I'm thrilled to be involved with Sky Burial for a second time. I can't encourage you enough to check this one out.
Here are the details:
Sky Burial: There I saw the Grey Wolf Gaping CD
“There I Saw The Grey Wolf Gaping” marks a return to the shorter compostions which comprised Sky Burial’s first few releases. These tracks reflect the width and breadth of sounds which inspire Sky Burial’s brand of sonic eclecticism, from kosmische/krautrock, music concrete, and early industrial to shoegaze, ambient/drone, and avant-garde composers. Athough inspired by diverse genres, Sky Burial has created a cohesive sound of its own, often citing esoteric and mythological subject matter as a muse. This album features guest artists Danny Hyde (Coil), Jarboe, Anni Hogan (Marc and The Mambas/Willing Sinners), Jóhann Eiriksson (Gjöll, Reptilicus), Bridget Wishart (Hawkwind), Troum, Xiphoid Dementia and piper Craig McFarlane. This is the first Sky Burial album to make use of vocals and vocal intonations on several tracks. Edition of 500 copies packaged in Arigato packs with an 8-panel poster. The first 50 copies (small doses has ~20) include a 3" cdr with an exclusive bonus track. Co-released by First Light.
The official release date for this disc is October 17. They will start shipping a few days before that once I'm back from a much needed week's vacation on the North Shore of Lake Superior.
Thanks for reading.
cheers,
