Hi and happy new year!

Would like to know how many schools have purchased, allowed and are operating aerial drones?  More importantly, can you share your policy/operating restrictions?

You e-mail directly to me if needed.

Regards,
Michael

Hi Michael,

We have used drones for the past two/three years. We do not use them on campus because we are within 5 miles of an airport.

Our photography department’s instructions are attached. These are not institutional guidelines, so the instructions have not been approved by any safety committee.

Also there is now a FAA requirement to register drones over 0.55 lbs. (250 grams).

https://www.faa.gov/uas/registration/

Hope this helps,

Carl
