Hello all,

I am curious how the different small schools handle new employee safety training e.g. haz com, emergency procedures, ergonomics, etc.  Is the training electronic or do you have classroom training?  We currently conduct all the new employee training in the classroom setting but am wondering if there is another way.

Thank you,

At Berea we do a mix but tend to do more online, we have a subscription to the BLS service. We also use Moodle for our in house cart training

At SCU we offer New Employee EHS Orientation the following ways:

Staff - Offer one instructor led session per month.  An online equivalent module is available for those that can't attend the in-person session.

Faculty - All new faculty receive this training in-person during their HR orientation day at the start of the school year.

Student Workers - All take an online module similar to the one for staff but tailored to students.  California requires all employees to receive Injury and Illness Prevention training thus we treat them like faculty and staff with regards to this training requirement.
