Abhay Gulati and Aaliya Khan have been friends since childhood. Aaliya has always loved acting since her mother is an actress. Her father leaves her and her mother. Abhay likes cooking but his father wants him to take care of his business. Eventually Abhay and Aaliya start dating but Aaliya does not want to marry. An opportunity comes for Aaliya to go to Australia for acting school which she takes. She goes to Australia where she has to live with her strict aunt. She then moves into a bungalow where a group of young people live for cheap. Abhay becomes paranoid and goes to Australia, annoying Aaliya because she feels he doesn't trust her and they break up. Abhay opens a restaurant and it becomes a big hit. Aaliya and Abhay slowly become friends again. Aaliya finishes acting school and Abhay's father finds out about his restaurant. Abhay and Aaliya's mother, Ayesha, come for Aaliya's graduation. Aaliya gets an opportunity to work in a movie and signs the contract without telling her mother, thereby enraging her. Soon Abhay leaves Aaliya too, because she is selfish. Realizing she is wrong and that she can't go on without her mother's support, she quits the movie and rushes back to India to repair their relationship. Soon, her mother realises that Aaliya is strong to face the world and can come to terms with her mistakes more easily than her mother herself was capable of, so she allows her to act in the movie and sends her back again. However, soon she return to the same Australian city for shooting her movie, and meets Abhay, who tells her he still hasn't moved on. She apparently convinces him to move on and get married. However, she is stunned when she learns from another friend that Abhay is going to be married. Puzzled as to why he didn't tell her first about the news, Aaliya rushes to Abhay's house and finds him getting ready to get married. Aaliya begs him to re-think his decision, proposing to him with the very ring he was considering for her once upon a time. She confesses her love to him and tells him that she is really in love with him. Abhay, realising Aaliya's regret and love for him, shows her his wedding invitation which has her name, implying he intended to marry her all along. She is happy and they embrace, making up. The end credits show that the two are married, and have a daughter named Sara.
More positive reviews included critics Rohit Sukhwani, who tagged the film as a very pleasant and matured love story and Padukone was again at her best. Rajeev Masand, who said that director Danish Aslam "makes a respectable debut with a reasonably engaging film."[6] and Anupama Chopra, who praised Padukone's performance as "her best to date".[7]
Negative reviews included Taran Adarsh, who stated that even though the movie had a "vibrant Khan and Padukone as its USP", it also had a "faulty and an unpersuasive screenplay as is its major stumbling block".[8]
Debutant director Danish Aslam's romantic comedy Break Ke Baad, on the need for space in relationships, will see Imran Khan and Deepika Padukone, who play childhood friends-turned lovers, going their separate ways for some time.
Produced by Kunal Kohli Productions and distributed by Reliance Big Pictures and IBC Motion Pictures, the movie also stars Sharmila Tagore, Navin Nischol, Shahana Goswami and Lilette Dubey.
"It's a young urban story, but at its heart it has a classical romantic element to it," Imran said about the film.
The story of the movie focuses on Abhay Gulati (Imran) and Aaliya Khan (Deepika), who are childhood friends turned lovers. While Aaliya desires to become an actress irrespective of whatever it takes, Abhay is still unsure about his calling. As their relationship blossoms, the pair start facing differences due to their different personalities.
Things become difficult when Aaliya decides to go to Australia for further studies and Abhay gets restricted to a long distance relationship, and fears that he will lose her forever. They then decide to take time off from each other to figure out their priorities in life and career.
"Space is a word that is used a lot in a modern relationship. It's almost a break-up mantra. I wanted to explore that concept rather than a conventional love story where two people don't know each other, meet and fall in love," Aslam told IANS.
"I wanted to show what happens to two people, who have known each other for their entire life, if their relationship breaks. I found the concept more exciting than just writing run-of-the-mill love story," he added.
Talking about her character Aliya, Deepika said: "She believes that if you are in a relationship, it doesn't mean you have to get married. She doesn't believe that a couple have to live together and certain things like that. Her way of thinking about a relationship is very different. She is also very immature sometimes when it comes to relationships," she added.

True to this character delineation, the girl is the impulsive, larger-than-life, commitment-phobic, anti-establishment rebel, while the boy is the madly in love, clingy, nag who looks pretty in pink and loves to cook.
Storyline: A young couple takes a break from their relationship when the girl has to go abroad to study and then, the film goes psycho on us and makes the boy a clingy, obsessive, stalking nag.

Why didn't anyone tell me that this little underrated gem with an absolute banger of a soundtrack is basically role reversed-YJHD with Deepika as Bunny and Imran as Naina? With a much more nuanced and realistic exploration of the interconnected web of relationships, independence, dreams, ambitions and love?
And not to mention, just how much more thoroughly fresh and original it feels. Such a unique screenplay and novel direction! It would've been entirely better than YJHD too, had it not been for how generic and simplistic it got near the end after an hour of being the most exciting rom-com I've seen in ages.
But nevertheless, for me it was exactly what I needed lately: a light, pick-me-up film with some great music, stunning people, and some great truths about love and relationships that I needed to hear.
While it's super fun in the first half, ironically enough, it becomes unbearably boring break ke baad. The Vishal-Shekhar soundtrack slaps tho. Anjaana Anjaani was another 2010 dud which wasted a great soundtrack by the duo.
Imran khan is literally me. We have the exact body language that always makes me so much attracted towards him.... Speaking of cinema Deepika character is so well written but still no charm in that character though.. but still a good pleasant time pass watch
After the debacle of Thugs Of Hindostan, Aamir was in dilemma. Should he take a break , or try to regain lost ground? His trusted inner-circle, which includes his former wife Kiran Rao and his cousinMansoor Ali Khan, advised him to strike back while the iron is out.
The greatDilip Kumartook a break from acting in 1998 after the gawd-awful Qilla bombed at the boxoffice. Dilip Kumar immediately inferred the truth: being Dilip Kumar was not enough to ensure success. Clever mind that he had, Dilip Kumar realized that the cinema being made starring him was too small to carry the weight of his image.
Aamir returned with the disastrousMangal Pandeyin 2005.Since then he has featured in one or two films every year except 2019, 2020 and 2021.After Laal Singh Chadha he needs to take a long break. Maybe explore the idea of directing a film. A one-year break from acting is meaningless. After Zero in December 2018, Shah Rukh Khan took a five-year break and is all set to return with Pathaan, Jawan and Dunki, refurbished and ready for another innings.
But can a book be baad and bad at the same time given this taxonomy? The answer has to be: of course. The book can be hip, cool, revolutionary, code breaking on many levels, but just plain crappy. Examples will have to work here, and so I'm going to nominate for dual honors Bob Dylan's 1966 classic baad book, Tarantula. If this isn't baad and bad at the same time, I give up. So I'm just going to end with the first, well, let's call it "sentence" of the book:
