DIPLOMA IN COUNSELLING PSYCHOLOGY
From 2nd July to 28th September, 2019 (3 full months)
The Bishops, the Major Superiors, Superiors of Religious Communities and Rectors of Seminaries have ample people who need serious help in their emotional issues shown in inappropriate behaviours in their day-to-day life and ministries. These Religious Leaders look for someone who can guide and help them in these members’ journey of life. Unfortunately there are very few people who can do this service though they may hold degrees in Psychology or Spirituality. People who have the aptitude and trained sufficiently, in the area of helping others, is a great need in the Church in India today.
The Formators in general are at a loss to help the formees who come with a lot of emotional baggage.
The Government of India is going to demand all our Educational Institutions to have trained Student Counsellors to be at the service of the students.
Keeping all these in mind the Jesuit Centre at Secunderabad is coming forward to meet these needs by forming and training the personnel. It will help those in Sabbatical and desire to move into helping ministry in the future. We have chalked out a three-month course of Counselling Psychology, which we are announcing to you. The course is not meant for those who seek healing but for those who will be facilitating the healing process in others. This course prepares resource persons.
In this course we give some basic knowledge in Psychology focusing on the inner emotional dynamics of human persons. Then we move into dealing with the emotional issues of the participants so that the course is to help others by experiencing being helped themselves. Then we lead the participants into systematic formation and skills learning step by step.
The Major Superiors in general look forward to other Congregations to help their own people rather than training their own personnel who can be of great help to the members of the Congregation and to others. We place before you this Course in Counselling Psychology to make use of it.
