Posting data to pvoutput while inverter is unreachable

Hi all,
I moved house recently (rented it out), so don't have regular access to my inverter's data. Periodically (every 3-4 weeks) I go to the house to fetch the inverter data, which I've done today for the first time.
What I was wondering is if it would be easy enough to let smatool post data to pvoutput while the configured inverter(s) aren't contactable or offline. Combined with poolsolar's rate limiting patch (see https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/sma-bluetooth/qU2EKMPTebY ), I think that would be a perfect combination for situations like this.
