This is an update of where we're at with the renewable energy project for the Montville State School and Village precinct.
At the last P&C meeting there was a decision to support our application through the P&C under the Smart Schools Subsidy Program. There is funding pools available of up to $500,000, for Montville School with an ABS of 2 we would need to find approx 40C for every $1 funded through the scheme. In talking to the funding body they've indicated that an innovative project along these lines would be suitable for this funding.
So if we looked at a project cost of approx $150,000 in photovoltaics, inverters etc; $100,000 in modifications to buildings for heating, cooling and natural light, approx $30,000 in setting up the trail, equipment etc and $20,000 in plans, fees etc for a total cost of $300,000, we would apply for $217K and find the other $82K through the solar schools project (now $50,000 - $20,000 towards solar panels and the rest towards energy efficiency in buildings), 2 X $12,000 ($24000) from the public buildings photovoltaic rebate scheme and the other $8,000 we could find through business sponsorship, gaming machine, Council, in-kind support.
Frith and Suzy have both offered to help get this application together; and I'll be calling on Mark and Russell to help with pricing and need some help on what would need to be done with the buildings in terms of modifications.
As this is due in June, we'll have to move quickly. Mary, can you access the intranet site to let me know the exact closing date?
Many thanks
