Qld. has just announced a
44c/kWh feed-in tariff for grid-tie PV systems starting July 1. It's going to be
guaranteed for 20 years although they'll be doing a review after 10. The tariff
is paid on surplus electricity exported to the grid - for a small residential
system where you're out all day & have minimal loads running then this could
be worthwhile (it will encourage PV owners to be even more miserly with their
energy use).
Because of the high
limit allowed - 100 MWh/year (280 kWh/day) - & the guaranteed
payment, this starts to make large scale installations look financially
worthwhile. Expect to see community co-op power groups happening in the next
year or two, especially if PV prices start to come down with new manufacturing
plants coming online this year.
Cheers
