At the end of the 2010 festival I wasn't sure that I would be continuing the SLVFest. We've had our ups and downs through the remainder of the year, but January brings new beginnings, exciting ideas, and new vendor booth applicants. I'm very excited to announce that we will DEFINITELY have a festival this year and that it will be better than ever with all the wonderful ideas that are pouring in.
We generally accept what we call "pre-pay booths" from our long time vendors at the end the festival every year. We did not accept any prepaid booths at the end of the festival in 2010. Therefore, early vendor booth registration deadline is extended to Valentines day: February 14th, 2011. Early booth fees will be the same cost as 2010: $65 for first booth + $20 for each additional 15x15 booth space. We'll accept booth applications after this time, but the fee will be increased $75 + $25 for each additional booth space. We're increasing our local as well as regional marketing campaigns and as such will need to have fees paid as early as possible. We'll be doing weekly highlights on our blog, Ravelry group, and Facebook profiles to highlight product giveaways, new contests, new vendors, etc. To sign up for a vendor booth, please read the prospectus and submit the form at

If you have attended two or more of the last five years as a vendor, you still get priority choice on where your booth is located within the festival. If you intend to sign up for a specific booth space, I encourage you to do so before the end of January. After that time, I'll create an open map for vendors to choose their space when they pay for their booth space. As always, please make any special requests at the time you sign up for your booth space. I will make every effort to accommodate these requests.
Workshop proposal deadline is February 15th, 2011. The marketing for these will begin within a month of that deadline with online and print marketing materials going out to local fiber guilds, LYS, as well as other fiber related groups as recommended by our members. If you're interested in offering a workshop at this years festival please fill out a proposal at

Our first contest of the year posted this morning on our blog at
http://news.slvfest.com/2011/01/first-slvfest-contestgiveaway-of-2011.html Be sure and enter today before 3pm if you haven't already entered the contest.
I would appreciate any comments, advice, etc on how to make this years festival a great success. I'm here to guide the festival and make it happen, but it would not be possible without our vendors and our customers/attendees!!
Thank you for joining me on this adventure for 2011!
