Hi,

In slurm accounting there is the parameter "fairshare" that is arbitrarily set by the administrator for associations using sacctmgr.

And there is the factor "fair-share" in slurm priority, which is not set by the administrator but calculated from the amount of resources used and the resources promised (correct me if I am wrong).

Unfortunately both these concepts are used to determine priority and so it confuses me.

Are these two concepts different?

Thanks,

Yes.  I have a discussion here which might be useful:

https://docs.rc.fas.harvard.edu/kb/fairshare/

Note this is using the classic fairshare not FairTree which is now the default for Slurm.
