is anyone else having an issue using a gmail address for the slurm
mailling lists? Gmail keeps blocking all the slurm mail for my
account and marking it as Spam. A little yellow box pops up and says
this message is in violation of gmails bulk sender something or other

I've gotten it to the point where it only throws one out of every 4 or 5 emails into the spam folder; and I've submitted a few to their spam filter team so they will hopefully learn why   Assuming that the submit window is not a window of lies, anyway.

It's quite annoying for sure.

The message warns that the list isn't following any of the bulk sender
rules: https://support.google.com/mail/answer/81126?hl=en#authentication

Headers show the big issues are:
- No SPF records
- Rewriting the sender (spoofing this message to send as me, rather
than "sent on behalf of schedmd")

Looks like our server "sometimes" decided to use the ipv6 address to
send mail instead of the blessed ipv4 address, hence the sporadic
success rate. This has been corrected so hopefully this will be fixed.

Thanks for reporting,
Danny

I get double postings when I send to the list. Seems like I'm the only one, but I'm using gmail.

You do realize, unless you have it configured not to, you get the message you send out back from the list.  You can check on the archives (https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/slurm-devel), your emails only get sent out once to the list.  I've never seen a double posting from you.

I've made a few minor changes to our SPF records, and fixed the reverse
IP record for the mailing list server.

I highly recommend filtering based on the list ID
(slurmdev.schedmd.com), which has remained unchanged for a long time,
and should let you bypass any local spam filter rules.

it's not me, it's google's spam filters. the message is something
about the list coming through as unauthenticated

I'm attaching an export of my SLURM ML filters for GMail. They
prevent this from happening.
