1: Intention: Don't drift through the day with no plan or idea of how you'll spend it. That sets you up for failure because when you drift through the day, you allow distractions and interruptions to dictate how your day will go. Fill your day with intentions. Don't leave it up to chance. It's better to be pro-active than re-active.
2: Attitude: It's imperative you start the day with a positive attitude and maintain it throughout the day. It's been said that your attitude the first 15 minutes of the day will determine your attitude for the rest of the day. Set yourself up for success by starting the day off right. If you're starting the day stepping on lego's and panicky searching the fridge for breakfast, you're not off to a hot start. Begin the day with a positive attitude so that you approach the days tasks the right way.
3: Priorities: You likely have a to-do list for the day, but do you know the most productive tasks you should focus on? Not all tasks are created equal in terms of effectiveness. Don't spend the day being busy, spend the day being productive. That's the difference between people who succeed and those who fail. Leaders are effective, others are busy.
4: Social With A Purpose: This one is tricky. Talking to acquaintances online or offline, often makes you feel productive. But having fun conversations (even if it's about your work) isn't always productive. W. Clement Stone said "any day that is a social success is a business failure." Stone lived in a time when we didn't have social media. Imagine how much stronger he would feel about this statement today.
5: Stay On Time: Being late creates stress and anxiety. You can't seize the day when you're consumed with anxiety. Set an end time for all meetings as well as for each item on your to-do list. Don't leave room in the day for empty minutes.
6: Gratitude: You have 1,440 minutes in a day. Spend just 5 of them telling someone you appreciate them. You get so busy day in and day out that it's easy to never stop and tell someone you love them. Before you know it years have gone by. By making time for gratitude you not only make someone happy, you feel an extreme sense of productivity. Nothing feels better than making someone's day.
7: Yield: You can expect the expected. Something is going to try to throw you off today. Be flexible when things show up to knock you off track. When you're interrupted by something unexpected, adapt and adjust then get back on track.
Hi everyone! I am here today to share with you a couple of the cards I created with the new Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous release. I am honored to be a Tim Holtz maker and am so excited to inspire you more with his products!!! I will share more details about each of these cards throughout the next few weeks, but I wanted to be sure to let you know his new stamps and stencils are available now!
Tim shared this card in his LIVE this past Saturday, and I wanted to share more details with you! I started by stamping some leaves from the new Sketchy Leaves stamp set. To do this I scribbled wet Distress Watercolor Pencils all over the stamp, spritzed a fine mist of water from the Distress Sprayer, and stamped onto Distress Watercolor Cardstock. I then fussy cut them out. I ink-blended the edges with Ground Espresso Distress ink and set them aside.
Then, to create the background I worked on the smooth side of Distress Watercolor Cardstock. I spritzed it with some of the Distress Mica Sprays. I then stamped the new of Shattered stamp with Distress Archival Ground Coffee Ink. Next, I stamped some script from the Obscure stamp set with the same ink. I then used a paper distresser to rough up the edges of the background
Next, I white embossed a sentiment from the Note Quotes set onto some dark brown cardstock. Whenever I do ANY embossing, I prep the surface using the Cottontail Embossing Powder Tool. I stamp the sentiment several times over using a Misti and Yeti white pigment ink, then sprinkle the Alabaster White embossing powder from Brutus Monroe.
Cardmaking Supplies I used are linked throughout the post. Click on the picture and you will be taken to the product. I use affiliate links when available which means if you make a purchase I get a small commission at no extra cost to you. I appreciate your support!
I have wasted way too many years of my life being that person. But the reality is your life is happening here and now amidst the mundane. When you truly wake up and make an intentional effort to make the day count, you start to feel like you are fully alive and present in the moment. And you begin to realize that by making every single day count, you are putting yourself that much closer to achieving your goals.
But the research indicates that if we can become more present and mindful of the present moment, we will be better able to cope with any stressors that do come our way and we will experience greater levels of positivity.
Everything that happens to you today can be happening for you or happening to you. If you actively embrace an attitude that life is happening for you, then no matter what comes your way today you can experience joy and make the best of it.
There was a period in my life a few years back when I thought that setting and working towards goals was overrated. And when I look back on this period of my life, this is a time when I struggled to get out of bed in the morning and just trudged my way through each day.
Whether or not you like goals, the truth is that goals help give you a sense of purpose. And when you have purpose and feel like you are contributing to developing yourself or helping others, you are inclined to want to make the most of every day.
Whenever I get in a funk, I try to make it a point to sign up to go volunteer at my local food bank that Saturday. It never fails that after I leave there, I feel a sense of renewed hope and gratitude.
The state of our physical environment can greatly influence our mental well-being. Taking the time to declutter and organize your living or working space can make today more productive and fulfilling.
An organized space can lead to an organized mind, helping you focus better on your tasks and goals. Plus, the act of decluttering can be incredibly satisfying, giving you a sense of accomplishment that carries through the rest of your day.
Today I have extended a challenge to my friends on the EFED Facebook page. I would like to extend the same challenge to you. This is not a difficult challenge. It does not require you to go out and buy any special equipment. God has given you every thing that you will need. If you have a voice and a few moments then you are ready to begin this challenge.
In the day in which we live it seems we are so tied up in our own lives that we fail to see those around us. Technology has made it so that we have access to others every minute of our day, yet we seem to be the most disconnected of any time in history.
I want us to do something about that. Make it a point to reach others today. If you see someone who needs a word of encouragement, take a moment and offer that word. If you know someone who is struggling today, take a moment and pray for them. You can even let them know that you did so. If you see someone who could use a helping hand, stop and offer that hand to them.
Take a moment this morning to ask God to show you how you can make a difference. Ask Him to show you someone who may need a word of encouragement. There are people all around us who are looking for hope. If we will allow God to shine through us, we can share that hope with them.
