So I've just got fallout 1 and have no idea what I'm doing, I've looked in the user manual, and gotten to shady sands, and tried to talk to Razlo, and he tells me to come back in the morning. Is there a way you can sleep in the game? Should I move straight on to Vault 15? I'm really not sure what to do
Beverages containing a bit of caffeine will reduce this value, as will stopping your adventure and taking a nap. Furthermore, sleeping in a bed you own or have rented will get you the Well Rested bonus for 12 hours.
Certain beverages, including Nuka-Cola and its other varieties, are caffeinated and give one a brief grace period from sleep deprivation:[1] 2.33 game hours with regular caffeinated drinks and 7 hours with Quantum.

Well, I do. Especially when you can sit on couches, stools, chairs and so on, but not lay down on beds. I hate it since Oblivion, and Bethesda keeps doing their games without adding such simple idle to the game and then prompting the sleep menu. And, of course, Oblivion, Skyrim, F03 and FONV all have, or have had, a mod that implements that animation to the game. So simple, but so nice: you go to your bed, interact, do the animation, sleep menu prompts, black screen, morning, see your charachter there still sleeping, press any key, and he/she stantds! Like any NPC!!
It's easy to create such a mod and mixamo has many great sleep animations. There is a good animation of restless sleep, the actor is funny tossing and turning from side to side. There are many awakening animations for exiting. So that the actor does not jump up, but slowly gets out of bed and comes to his senses. In the first link of the mixamo animation, in the second article on how to make such furniture.
