I've got a product idea that is requires quite a bit of data storage. I could conceivably have a number of scripts in each object acting as data repositories, but that just feels wrong, plus it just burdens the sim's script memory more than I like.

What I'd rather do is store everything up in an off-world database, and push most of the actual processing power up there as well. The only sticking point I can see is that I need reasonably fast turnaround from request to response. My idea involves listening to local chat and making modifications before repeating it to the object wearer, so if I can reasonably expect a result in under a second then I think it might be feasible. If I can't normally depend on that, then I don't think it's doable.

So... what do people who use llHttpRequest a lot typically see? Is a second or two a reasonable expectation?

Thanks for any thoughts,
Corvan

I've had a system doing exactly that for 4 years. I give them away
free. I'll send you one to play with. You can experiment. Normal turn
around time is less than 1 or 2 seconds.
