SLBCJ Motor Vehicle Summit Tokyo on Sunday 11th December 2011 At GRAND PRINCE HOTEL, TAKANAWA, Tokyo
. There is more than 40 years long history on motor vehicles trade between Sri Lanka and Japan and it is still to be continued having recorded a significant volume of the total trade between our two nations. At present the exportation of Japanese used car to Sri Lanka is increasing including the modern cars such as electric and hybrid equipped vehicles.
Given the circumstances, importation of best quality, most efficient and value for money vehicles to Sri Lanka from Japan, particularly in the used cars’ context, has been sometimes a problematic due to trends and changes of the trading methods and patterns, regulations and other various matters that are in exist. At the same time, this trade among the two countries has been affected the developments such as the Japanese economic recession, appreciation of Japanese Yen and the March 2011 earthquake, tsunami and the nuclear disaster that occurred in the East part of Japan.
In considering all these aspects of this trade, the SLBCJ included this sector as to be addressed in its Promotional Year Plan for 2011 and has organized the SLBCJ Motor Vehicle Summit Tokyo from 08th to 12th December 2011, jointly with the Embassy of Sri Lanka. During this Summit it is being scheduled to make a useful dialogs among the participants broadly on the concerns on Sri Lankan import side as well as the Japanese export side. Further, visiting the 42nd Japan Motor Show in Tokyo Big Site that will be held from 02nd to 11th of December 2011 and the leading car manufacturing factory in Kanagawa are also would be the other best opportunities of participating at this Summit.
The participants and the resource persons from both sides at this Summit will be included the senior government experts who are involving regularly in this sector, vehicle import/ export associations and relevant private sector businesses such as buyers, sellers, auctioneers, exporters, importers etc.
