PETALING JAYA: A literary figure and his family had a harrowing experience when three robbers armed with parang broke into their house at Jalan Pegaga 8/9A, Section 8, Kota Damansara, here Wednesday night.

In the 9.30pm incident, the writer was not only robbed of his valuables and cash, but also two lap tops where he had stored the draft of his unpublished works, Mohd Ghodzali Abd Rashid, 61, whose pseudonym is Malim Ghodzali PK, told reporters at the scene.

Mohd Ghodzali lost about RM40,000, his car key as well as that of his friends at his two-storey terrace house.

“We were in front of the house and one of our friends had gone to his car to take some things. As he was walking back to the house, three men who were on two motorcycles came running towards us,” he added.

He said the robbers, who were wearing fully-covered crash helmets, then forced them into the house and threatened to injure his youngest son, Emir Yassin, 7, if they shouted for help.

He said his wife, Ratnawati Jamil, 47, a senior writer at Primeworks Studio, and their three children and a housemaid were in the house. -- Bernama

Dear Zailan
Thanks for the info. Its really sad this problem is like part of our daily life. I dont remember M'sia being like this 30 yrs ago & life was happier & simpler then.
The house that I grew up in had no iron grills & most of time our main door was not even close. Children of all races from our neighbourhood were always in our house mainly because we had big compound. There were football, skipping or something going on every evening.
Is our quality of life getting better or are we paying a high price for modernization??
God bless.

I echo your sentiments Felicia. Actually I met the neighbor of this guy at Subaidah at 10:30 p.m. last night, he had just come from his house and told me his neighbor was just robbed. He also said there is a break in case almost every week in section 8. I told them about our guard and gate project, he said their area is too wide and many entrances, and they cannot come together to find a solution to this yet. It's sad as they are all living in fear wondering when their turn will come.

Hopefully we can stay strong as a community and maintain our protective measures which I feel have helped prevent some untoward incidents.

Thank you for the info Zailan. It’s depressing to hear this news especially when there’s a break-in every single week in the said area.  Do be aware everyone and let’s not take security for granted.

Regards

Rizvi

Dear Zailan,
Its so horrible to be "living in fear & wondering when their turn will come".  What a way to live!!
I like the last sentance in yr mail & yet we have people that till today still not supporting security & not paying for the fencing project.  As I have always said, our community is very small & we have to be supportive. We cant be selfish for if anything were to happen, the first person we call is our neighbour.
We are still looking for 2 person to take over from Rizvi & me. Both of us have served for 3 yrs & its time to change. We need new people, new ideas, etc.  If you know of anyone, please us know & asap.
Have a great weekend.
