We are Generation Survive It All

We survived Pass-Ar-Die.

We survived Ekutay when

Binkolo became the home

of all political shades from

all four corners of the land.

We survived Vouchergate. 

We survived Go Slow.

We survived NPRC I 

in the midst of the red and 

green shenanigan players.

We survived the RUF rebels 

though internally displaced. 

We survived NPRC II 

and the almost no-elections 

for a peace that taught us  

that Bintumani was murky. 

We survived AFRC which 

almost liquidated us all before

the endgame that exposed other

hidden plots and counterplots.  

Many survived the long-or-short  

sleeve amputation of limbs, legs.

Others live today without them

yet are abandoned to beg to live. 

Even Pa Kabbah survived 

the democracy that made him 

the First Gentle Man in a land 

battling RUF, AFRC, letdowns

and Salone bad heart laced with 

corruption and abandonments.

We survived World Best and 

Ali Baba and the forty thieves.   

We survived Ebola and its kleptos, 

its post-traumatic effects and loss. 

We survived PAOPA I and its 

New Men that promised us change

but became so busy chasing cheese

and forgot about their New Direction. 

We survived COVID-19 and its 

grafters and misplaced priorities.  

We are surviving the no-results  

Elections tripartite schemes and

counter schemes in PAOPA II – 

with a propaganda machine 

misdirecting the very essence of

service delivery to eternal survivors. 

 

We are generation survive it all – 

blackout, pump-lock, queues for rice, 

oil, kerosine, petrol, poda-poda, et al – 

our resilience and survival are infinite

and have broken many tyrants’ backs!
