Hey Everyone,
Just a note about ASHA application:
I sent it in with credit card payment, thinking that I wouldn't be
charged until the process was complete. But they actually charged me
membership dues for this year and by the time I am done with my CF, I
will have to pay dues again! Does anyone know if there are distinct
benefits to being a member even when not certified? I really don't go
to their site all that often to do research...

Anyway, I called them to ask for a refund and to explain why, and they
weren't very forgiving. I may end up loosing the $340 and just having
to pay again next year. So if you haven't sent in the ASHA app, I
think it can wait until you are done with your CF. If anyone knows
anything different, please post.
Thanks,
Aimee

Wow - Aimee
I didn't realize that at all! Mine has already been processed except that they are waiting for the transcript with the degree awarded. Why did the school have us do this?

Good question, I asked myself the same thing! I wrote a letter to ask
for a refund. I am doubting a positive outcome however...
I really could use that money, while I wait to be eligible!!!

Here's an update on the ASHA dues. I wrote a letter to request a
refund for my dues so that I wouldn't have to pay for membership
during my CF. I got the following response:

I am responding to your request for a refund of your ASHA membership
and
> certification dues while you are a member-in-process. While you are in

So if you haven't sent in your application and dues, wait till May to
take advantage of this option, or call/email Melanie to request it.
