This week is chalk full of fun, local foods events!
Tuesday Sept. 27, 7pm at the High Springs Public Library. The Seed Savers of High Springs gather for their monthly meeting (last Tuesday of every month). This week they will be talking about saving seeds. This is really cool, as Grow Gainesville is getting ready to launch a community seed library!
Wednesday Sept. 28, 7pm the new Gainesville Fish group will show a screening of "Wild Caught: The Life and Struggles of an American Fishing Town" at the Civic Media Center. See attached flyer for more information. Also please note that this new group is looking into starting a fish-share model, similar to agricultural CSA's. They need interested people to help in the planning and implementation of this project.
Thursday Sept. 29, 7pm at the downtown Alachua County Public Library headquarters branch, Grow Gainesville will have their monthly meeting (last Thursday of every month) in the Foundation Room. Open to all, as they discuss general urban garden networking issues, and possible ways for involvement for upcoming events/projects (like the seed library!).
And finally, don't forget to shop 7 days a week at the Citizen's Co-op. It is open for everyone, not just members and is fully stocked with everything you need from produce, baked goods, personal care and more. Help them prosper and pick up some of the best goods in town. Conveniently located on south Main St. Check them out before or after you see Wild Caught on Wednesday!
Happy Fall, y'all!
