Compost the Most! Workshop and Demo
Come join us at the UF Organic Gardens on Saturday June 18, 2011 from 9AM-10:30AM to learn about composting and view a successful community garden compost system in action. Jennifer Seitz with Alachua County Waste Alternatives will give a brief presentation on composting, followed by an up-close and hands-on look at the compost system led by garden member, Ann Burnett. This is intended to be a sharing and learning session and we encourage lots of questions and exchange of ideas among experts and novices alike. For a real opportunity to dig in, a few folks may wish to help the gardeners turn and manage the piles. We will then travel to the UF Ethnoecology Garden for another look at their successful compost system. Refreshments will be provided, but please remember your own water bottle. Bring a chair if you like and your own notebook to scribble notes. Admission is one healthy non-perishable item to be collected for a family in need. Please RSVP to growgai...@gmail.com. If you have seeds or plants to share please bring them.
