Gregg,
We are oh so similar. I rode yesterday for the first time in about 2 months (last ride 12 miles to get a cup of coffee). The first mile out from home felt like the 90mile+ whupping I get on the last leg of the Lake Permanent.
Took a ride out Little Creek Church Rd to the end and over to Wilson's Mills abd back on Powhatan. Mileage between 15 and 20. 1 hour and 40 min.
I concur with "felt good, but crawling." Any ride is a good ride. All the car people treated me well.
I was doing a lot better toward the end in terms of HR. Body started to remember, lungs opened up a bit more, etc. It hurt my butt nethers though. I rode the Schwinn, but It is no good. I have mostly been healing that problem since last fall and still it is no good. I will have to do the recumbent thing for any regular riding or rides over 15 to 20 miles. I think I can still use uprights for trips into town and rides with Etta.
It is cool that you got the family to go out. 2 miles is a creditable start before cramps, it was a hot day and I got some too. I remember my first outing of 5 miles ever so long ago and how that just did me in.
I would like to ride with slow company, but I am headed back to VA for work tomorrow. Keep in touch?
Mike
