IT'S ALMOST TIME!

Hello! Thank you for supporting the 2009 Frostbite Tour - Ride for Dave. We've got a couple of reminders and details to cover before the ride. The ride will begin at 9a on Saturday, February 28th. Please plan on carpooling to Archer's Lodge - parking space is limited. Directions to the ride can be found on our homepage at http://www.frostbitetour.org.

SILENT AUCTION

Participate in our silent auction the morning of February 28th by bidding to win one of the following generous gifts. Auction closes at noon and the winner will be announced at Archer Lodge Community Center. Don't forget to check in after the ride to see if you've won and pick up your prize!

       * a case of wine and specialty beers from our friends at Seaboard Wine Warehouse
       * a $100 gift certificate from longtime Frostbite supporters Great Outdoor Provision Co.

(Please bring your checkbook, we have a hard time handling cash during registration day.)

SAFETY INFORMATION

Safety during the tour is top priority! Here are some suggestions to keep in mind:

   * dress in bright colors for maximum visibility
   * communicate with your fellow cyclists. Let them know if there's a "car back!", or that you're "on your left!" or "stopping!"
   * signal turns and stops
   * if you're unused to riding in a pace-line or in a group, maintain safe distances between yourself and other riders
   * watch out for cars - even if you have the right of way, remember- they're bigger. If possible, make eye contact with drivers pulling out from side roads and driveways. Make sure they see you before you cross in front of their vehicle.
   * be predictable and obey all trafic signs, staying as far to the right side of the lane as is safe.
   * please avoid riding alongside one another if it means cars behind you cannot pass.

I am sweeping the 40 miler so that makes the Frostbite a Slow Spokes Ride!  Come on out regardless of your fitness level this year.  You won't get dropped.
