The Czechs had Slavonic Dances by Dvořák, the Germans had Mozart, the Spanish had Granados, and the Romanians had Enescu. Now we have the Slovak Dances, Naughty and Sad, by Slovak composer Peter Breiner, a protege of
Alexander Moyzes. Yes, Moyzes himself wrote the Pohronie Dances, based on Slovak folk music, but these pieces by Breiner are orchestrations of 16 actual Slovak folk songs.
