The group has been silent for a while, so here's a little something. The Hungarians had their dances by Brahms, a classical orchestral collection based on folklore material. The Czechs had Slavonic Dances by Dvořák, the Germans had Mozart, the Spanish had Granados, and the Romanians had Enescu. Now we have the Slovak Dances, Naughty and Sad, by Slovak composer Peter Breiner, a protege of Alexander Moyzes. Yes, Moyzes himself wrote the Pohronie Dances, based on Slovak folk music, but these pieces by Breiner are orchestrations of 16 actual Slovak folk songs. You can listen to them here on Spotify or your favorite music streaming platform: https://open.spotify.com/album/4mBTRd7ZvZX1oCK5QUqPUY

Enjoy!
