Is it really that difficult to operate a commercial track that is
profitable? It just seems odd that in the Los Angeles area, there's
only one track, and that's way down in Buena Park, in Orange County.
The one by me is almost 100 miles from L.A. and is run by a pure butt
head that I refuse to do business with. I haven't done any racing in
two years and really do miss my hobby.

It is tough. The track eats up most of your floor space. This squately
against a solid business plan for a retail establishment. You can only
charge so much for track time, and mail order and internet sales kill your
bottom line. It is really tough. It's much more viable as club venture
where your goal is to break even, or just offset a lot of costs.
