lodging recs for the 600?

Hi folks. I'm tentatively planning to drive down from the East Bay and join you on the 600k next month. Anyone have lodging recommendations? I can always find something online, but if any veterans have brevet specific suggestions then I'd be glad to know.

Oh, haha -- just looked at the start location and  it's surrounded by (h/m)otels. Guess I'll just pick one of those. Hopefully they don't hassle me about a bike in the room.

They won't bother you around SLO, there are lots of cycling events in this area all year, both centuries and tours.  I rode across the country last year and there was only one night in Pennsylvania on the GAP trail that the Russian hotel owner (had to be old military) was adamant the bike couldn't come in.  But he had a hose out front and did let me use it, and I was on a damp gravel trail all day, so OK.  No other hotel in 2 months gave me any trouble at all.
