Chapter 16: The Divine And Demoniac Natures
Verse: 18
ahankaram balam darpam
kamam krodham ca samsritah
mam atma-para-deheshu
pradvishanto 'bhyasuyakah

Translation:
Bewildered by false ego, strength, pride, lust and anger, the demons become envious of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, who is situated in their own bodies and in the bodies of others, and blaspheme against the real religion.

Explanation:
Krishna earlier said that "from the scriptures I am to be known." Since such demoniac people reject both the scriptures and Krishna, one may wonder, how could they be envious of Krishna, if they do not acknowledge His existence? Srila Prabhupada explains this, "He does not care for the supreme control of the Personality of Godhead, because he has no knowledge. Being envious of the scriptures and the Supreme Personality of Godhead, he puts forward false arguments against the existence of God and denies the scriptural authority. He thinks himself independent and powerful in every action." Thus the enviousness comes from the desire to become the supreme controller and their inability to do so.

In order to reject the Vedas, they ascribe faults to it, based on empirical observations of their imperfect senses. Taking shelter of their false ego they consider themselves to be the independent doer. Taking shelter of their strength they consider themselves always the victor. Taking shelter of their arrogance they say that "there is no one equal to me." Taking shelter of their lust they say that "my desires are greater than every one's else." Taking shelter of their anger they think, "I will kill my enemy."

They disrespect the paramatma, who is situated in their own and others' bodies. They claim that the religion is the crutch of the weak or the beating stick of the strong. They hate the Lord, since they find fault in the qualities of the devotees who have surrendered to Him. Thus they blaspheme the real religion.

Please read the Sanskrit Verse and the Prabhupada's Purport.

One's memory of Krishna is revived by chanting the Hare Krishna maha-mantra. By this practice of chanting and hearing the sound vibration of the Supreme Lord, one's ear, tongue and mind are engaged. This mystic meditation is very easy to practice, and it helps one attain the Supreme Lord.

Chant:

Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna Hare Hare
Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama Hare Hare
