Hello everyone,

I found out today that a friend of mine is writing for the New Times. He says that a story like SLOCityFarm would definitely be news-worthy and could be written about at anytime. I told him to wait until approval from CCAN and SLOCityFarm people.

I do feel that a little "teaser" might be nice for the public after the last meeting with Neil and April. But i do not want to rush into even the most vague of messages to the press, especially regarding the City's involvement.

Is it still to early for people to become aware of a public process going on to benefit the health of the community? We can write about all of the local organization's activities. If we can get donations rolling from supporters we can start to save for the water and sewage. With SLOCityFarm and ccan support, I would like begin maybe thinking about when and how to get community support.

I did tell my friend at New Times not to write/say anything about this until we gave the green-light.

peace,
Lindsey

It seems to me that the next CCAN meeting, at which officers are
selected, and before which we should have received notice about the
feasibility study LOI and maybe the county grant application, would
be an appropriate target for the press release. I'm not sure we want
to go public until we've reviewed the mission statement and developed
the work plan, which should happen between now and then. That
deadline would be good to the replace the ones for the last city
meeting and grant application deadlines.

Easy for me to say, since I'll be out of the country until April 6,
though in sporadic email contact.

Hi Lindsey,

Thanks for the excitement and connection with new times.  I am inclined to agree with Stephen.  I feel like we have several important conversations to have in the next few weeks before making any public statements. First,  I would love to hear in full detail the experience from the City meeting.  I hope we can talk about it at our next meeting (which I think won't be until March 25th).  Lets keep these media contacts opportunities documented on the pbworks site.  So far we have at least the Newtimes and edible SLO.  I think we should also release to Dave Congleton (perhaps for a conversation)  and to a few other news sources that seem appropriate ... calcoastnews.com maybe.

We need to talk more generally about a marketing strategy for the organization and the SLO City Farm project.

If you could start by creating a table on PBWorks of the current PR opportunities, organization, contacts, etc.  That would be extremely valuable to the group.

Thanks

Eric,

Hey, it was good to see you at Linnea’s Café.

Let me know if you want to get together and talk about projects some time.

Terry
