Hi All,
First off, my apologies for my brusk approach to the City Farm meeting last week. I really was taken by surprise that the CCAN meeting was to begin at 5, thus cutting us short by half our planned time. It was also a bit awkward to have Deb there while we formulated our slate, etc., etc. Further, I thoroughly embarrassed myself in rushing to the end point with Charlie. Somehow I thought he was a bit more up to speed. But he was gracious and seemed willing nonetheless, so congratulations to the new CCAN Board.
This email is directed to you as City Farm proponents. There still is much to do if we hope to be ready to submit a full up grant proposal to Wallace Winrock for the Feasibility Study, which has such a short turn around,
so I propose we continue our regular meetings this Thursday at 4:30 at Ecoslo. Also, the City Farm effort needs to move forward with or without the Feasibility grant so we need a plan for that scenario.
I spoke with Hunter about who to contact at Cal Poly Ag Business to discuss the feasibility study and he recommended Kate Lancaster or the Dept head Wayne Howard. Additionally, I discussed the status of City Farm with Andrew Christie at the Sierra Club and he hopes the feasibility study will examine whether is it equally practical to have one or more than one farmer on the Phase I or Phase II farm(s).
Steven will be away for the next two and a half weeks but he urges us to press on. I have to speak at the CCCL&J meeting at 6:30 but it is just down the road. Sami and Lauren are setting up the CCAN booth earlier, so they can't be present but I say let's keep going (or possibly move the meeting time
up-I know that is not helpful to Louise, though.)
So, can we meet Thursday at 4:30 at EcoSlo? We can get everyone on the same page as far as the grant LOI's and work plan development, and discuss CCAN officers and staffing. If you all agree, we could include Charlie. It might help him get up to speed.
Kim
