I have a Compaq Presario 4860 I have added a second hard drive strictly for
Linux (Mandrake 7.2) also a new modem Actiontec 56K ISA Master, I have 384
of RAM and I have a HP 722C printer. I can't connect to my sound card,
printer, or my modem. What am I doing wrong. The modem says it is linux
compatible. One other problem the plug and play is still enabled and I can't
find were to disable it from.I have looked in the BIOS but I don't see it.

A WinModem?
Try <http://www.linmodems.org> for further information.

Me too, this is a so called GDI-Printer, which expects a bitmap image
from the printer-driver, to map this image onto paper. These printers
are - AFAIK - not well supported, but I didn't try by myself due to
massive lack of time.

What soundcard?
Chipset, Vendor, ... We need input to generate output!

Where does it say this? Can you send us a link to the vendor page or
product information page, so that we can have a look on our own?

Reconfigure your Kernel, Check out the KERNEL-HOWTO on
<http://www.linuxdoc.org> or one of your local mirrors.
