Pre-conference Workshop on Logic and Cognition

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi

March 2, 2019

The Association for Logic in India (ALI) has announced the eighth edition of its biennial Indian Conference on Logic and its Applications (ICLA), to be held at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi from March 3 to 5, 2019:

http://icla2019.cse.iitd.ac.in

A pre-conference workshop on Logic and Cognition will be held on March 2, 2019. The workshop will focus on applying modal logics to analyze psychological tasks involving mental states, in particular:

(I) the paradigmatic false belief tasks, and

(II) higher order social reasoning tasks involving strategic games. We are interested in both model-theoretic and proof-theoretic approaches.

Before describing recent advances in these fields, we plan on giving a brief introduction to relevant modal logics as well as relevant notions from psychology and cognitive science, thus making the workshop self-contained for a broad range of logicians, whatever the background: Computer science, linguistics, philosophy or mathematics.

The workshop is organized by Torben Braüner (tor...@ruc.dk) and Sujata Ghosh (suj...@isichennai.res.in).

Speakers

-------------------------

Rohit Parikh (CUNY, USA)

Torben Braüner (Roskilde University, Denmark)

Sujata Ghosh (ISI Chennai, India)

The extended abstract should clearly state the contributions and provide significant details. Submissions should be sent as a pdf file to both suj...@isichennai.res.in and tor...@ruc.dk.

Important Dates

-----------------------

The deadline for submissions is January 7, 2019.

Notifications will be sent out as soon as possible thereafter.
