I've been doing some work on the CGI converter scripts at www.sljfaq.org/cgi/ and have made a few changes.
* minidic.cgi links removed
First of all, I noticed that many of the links to kanji.sljfaq.org were going through the old page minidic.cgi on pages like
so I have changed those links so that they now go to kanji.sljfaq.org/redirect/ instead. Doing a search for this on the text part of the site at www.sljfaq.org/afaq/, I found that the links there also go through the obsolete minidic.cgi, so I have updated the FAQ pages with the newer /redirect/ links.
* Verb inflection page improvements
I have been working on the Japanese verb inflection page
I improved the instructional text and the CSS layout as well as adding a link to the WWWJDIC entry for the verb in the reply when a user enters a verb. See for example
The link is after the words "inflections of" at the top.
* Bad kanji
In testing out the name kanji application I found a few more bad characters which I've added to the list, which is online here:
* Other
I'm considering merging the verb deinflecter into the verb inflection and then the user can just enter a verb in any form into a single box. This seems more intuitive, and my research indicates that the verb deinflection is getting almost no use at the moment.
