Slimbox only working with the minified code?

Hello,

I downloaded the demo file. If I however replace the minified version
with the source-version (from the src folder), Slimbox is not working
anymore. Why's that?

Because it is javascript.
Can be dozen of reasons. Script incompletly loaded, An other script use a same var or function name, You have an error somewhere else...etc...
Use Firebug to try to see what kind of error do you get.
Anyway, Javascript is a pain in the ass. Hugly and fragile language with no debug. And all those heavy libraries (mootools, Jquery)slow to load, conflicting themselves just to add fucnctions witch have to be in the JS core !
