Hey,
It might sound naive but I am a newbie in using SLiM. Initially I was using SLiM using GUI but recently I am simulating some nucleotide based model on 1 gb genome size. So, now I am using SLiM using command line. I tried using multiple thread option to fasten up the process using option `--threads`. But it seems SLiM does not recognise such options. It's already 24 hours and simulation is still running. It would be really helpful if I can know what all can be done.

Thanks

Hi Sonal!

Yes, SLiM is only single-threaded at this time.  Was there something in particular that gave you the impression that it was multithreaded?

As for how to speed up your simulation, I'd recommend looking at chapter 21 of the SLiM manual, which has rather extensive discussion of performance.  If you get a profile of your model and are unsure how to optimize the bottlenecks you find (but think that they can be optimized – i.e., SLiM is not just spending all its time creating offspring, for example, which is what it is), feel free to post the profile here and perhaps there will be suggestions for you.  With so little information about your model, it is of course impossible for us to guess what might help.

Cheers,
-B.
