Hi all. As previously announced (
https://groups.google.com/g/slim-discuss/c/NWu-GjhjO0Y), there will be four free SLiM Workshops in Europe in 2024: Stockholm, Copenhagen, Ancona (Italy), and Edinburgh. Those workshops are all presently full (waitlist only), although we hope to obtain a larger room for the Copenhagen workshop that will allow a few more people in.
This post concerns ONLY THE COPENHAGEN WORKSHOP.
Thanks to the hosts, Bárbara and Hernán, there is some limited travel funding available for the Copenhagen workshop. THREE SPACES HAVE BEEN PRE-RESERVED for these travel funds (so those three seats are still available – you do NOT need to already be accepted to the workshop to apply for this travel funding). This funding is ONLY for applicants from a low-income country, and ONLY for people with a specific plan to use SLiM as an important part of their research, and ONLY for people with no access to alternative funding. We are trying to make the workshop accessible to people who will benefit greatly from it, and would not otherwise be able to attend. Please spread the word to international collaborators/labs that you think might be interested, and repost this announcement on Twitter, etc.
Here is the announcement of the travel funding from Bárbara and Hernán. Please read it carefully.

We understand that while the Copenhagen workshop itself is free, the associated expenses, such as travel and accommodation, can be a significant barrier for many talented individuals. To bridge this gap and ensure equal access to knowledge, we are thrilled to offer up to three fully funded travel awards (round-trip transportation to Copenhagen, accommodation, and meals for the entire duration of the workshop).
These travel awards are open to PhD students and postdocs from low-income countries that would greatly benefit from the workshop. Applicants must have an affiliation from regions often referred to as the Global South, or those residing in countries with a low Human Development Index (HDI). We encourage all researchers facing financial constraints to apply for these opportunities, with an emphasis on the participation of women, underrepresented minorities, as well as researchers from under-represented institutions.
The award selection process will prioritize both financial need and the anticipated impact of the applicant's participation on their ongoing research. We request applicants to provide a clear rationale for their need of the travel award. This should include any efforts made to secure funding from other potential sources for your travel expenses.
If you qualify for these travel awards, please apply here (do not reply to this post):

This is the first time that a SLiM Workshop has offered such travel funding, and I'm really excited that Bárbara and Hernán have made it possible. A big thank-you to them for their efforts!
Cheers,
