Prev/Next Buttons and Pagination not working

Hi everyone, I've been working with a wordpress theme that utilizes
SlidesJS. I've managed to customize the size of the slideshow as well
as the background images of the previous and next buttons, but
somewhere along the line the functionality of them broke. They are
not working as links. When I inspect them with Firebug they are
showing the <a> tag, but for whatever reason they are just broken.
I'm not sure where the problem is or how to fix it. Anyone have any
ideas?
