Wanted to give a quick status update for those who are interested.
The following changes have been made (but not yet checked in).

I've started support for conferences/events. Essentially this will be
'groups' on steroids (more data specific to the event - and things
like links to external pages and RSS feed retrieval/display on event
page). This needs a bit more work, but it's started and coming along
nicely.

I've also begun work on the SlideSix import feature. This will
basically involve authenticating with SlideSix credentials, listing
exiting presos and allowing import of one preso at a time. I wanted
to keep it simple instead of building a queuing/scheduling offline
type system since it is heavily tied to the SlideSix API (not really
extensible) and it's a 'one time' thing.

The current plan is to relaunch on July 1. I'm hoping that putting a
deadline on the relaunch will keep the project moving along. This may
mean some features get left out (things like Facebook Connect, trial
uploads without registering, etc) if no one is able to contribute to
those areas, but I'm OK with that as long as things are moving
forward. (Please let me know if you'd like to tackle one of those
features).

Anyone have thoughts on presentation commenting? I'm considering
restricting comments to logged in/registered users as a way to cut
down on spam. cfformprotect (askimet/honey pot) are also options at
this point but these are limited to non-commercial services (FWIW).
That was what has always limited me in the past -- I didn't want to
lock myself into a paid solution that didn't have a strong enough
revenue stream to support it. Yet another idea is to go with a third
party solution like Facebook or Disqus for comments. As always, I'm
open to feedback here.

That's it for now. My short term goal is to have import and
conference/events checked in to GitHub by the end of the week.
Hopefully I'll get a chance to upload the Flex projects to their
respective repos as well.

Oh - regarding domain name - Adam Lehman approached me offline with a
fantastic idea (slide ninja dot com) but the name is currently taken.
I'm crossing my fingers that the person lets it expire in June and
does not renew. I absolutely *love* this idea -- its got geek appeal
and I think that it could lead to a really cool theme/design.

Another idea is slide robot dot com (currently available) - it has a
bit of geek appeal and could also inspire creative designs - but it
may be a bit played out? Thoughts?

Todd,

I absolutely love slide ninja as well. Maybe we need some brute force to
make sure the current registrar lets it expire.

I'm on a vacation in 2 weeks and slammed until then but should have some
free time to help out as soon as I get back. I could probably tackle the
Facebook Connect functionality for you.

Thanks,
Joe

Got any ideas on how to do that?

Awesome - let me know when you're available.

Thank you Joe.
