Getting SlideShare id from url?

Hi,

I am OK with getting slide details via the API, given an id
...but, is there a way in the API to get the SlideShare presentation
id from the SlideShare presentation url?

I ask this, as I would like to let users pull in slideshows to our
system by supplying the url to the presentation rather than the id.

The simplest way I can see to get this (or at least instruct them)
would be to supply the WordPress.com embed code from the
presentation's page.

Any chance of a simple API call to provide this, so user need only
enter something they already know : ie the url.

Second this request.

Perhaps an oEmbed implementation would be the way to go? Though,
admittedly it has some serious flaws like lack of auto discovery.

We are working on a simple API function that will take the URL as input
and return the ID as output! Hopefully it will be out in the next week
or two.

(but would have liked to get a demo together today. I have been trying
to scrape the html->head tags and going through the link rel=
values ;) urgh! )
