I am Dr. Andre Boyer, Community Development Director, at Culturingua. Our non-profit organization celebrates and elevates the People & Heritage of the Middle East, North Africa, & South Asia population. We build bridges, create a sense of belonging, and empower the community as it celebrates with the rest of Bexar County. We have three program arms: Economic, Community, and Youth Development. Under Community Development, we have the Community of Welcome (CoW) Program, which matches faith-based organizations to Afghan families with integration and community creation.  

We announced the implementation of the CoW Entrepreneurial Sewing Training with English as a Second Language (ESL) Support. We have a curriculum to teach ESL and need one or two volunteer teachers. 

Unfortunately, the volunteer students we had scheduled to teach in our program became unavailable. Our classes run Monday - Friday, 1000 - 1200, from March 6, 2023, to April 21, 2023, at different apartment complexes. There is a break from March 13 - March 17, 2023. 

We have an immediate need for volunteer teachers to teach the following face-to-face beginner ESL support classes: 

1. Every Monday, March 6, 20, 27, Apr 3, 10, 17; Number of Students: 12; Location: 6101 Witbey Ave Apt # (TBD), San Antonio, TX 78240
   
2. Every Wednesday: March 8, 22, 29, Apr 5, 12, 19; Number of Students: 12; Location: 4848 Goldfield Apt# (TBD), San Antonio, TX 78218

We will provide training for the teacher(s). The volunteer could teach one or both class days. We are looking for volunteers with some teaching experience; however, that is not a requirement. To be mindful of cultural sensitivity, we request a female and/or female/male. The volunteer(s) would need to bring his/her computer. We will be providing an internet connectivity hotspot. We will send you the exact address when we receive the name, phone number, and email address.
