Ihave a Singer 7462 Electronic sewing machine. When the foot pedal is depressed the electronic beeper beeps and lights flash but the sewing machine doesn't sew- I tried suggestions from Singer site but it didn't solve the problem. No sewing Machine repair in this area.

Pls I have a singer confidence quilter . The light comes up when I turned it on but it doesn't engage to start sewing rather it beeps and alarm and then stops but the lights keeps blinking what do I do ?

The Singer Athena will do this when the bobbin is threaded backwards... Sometimes it will sew for a few stitches - bunch the threads and then stop. Once that happens it will simply beep and not operate.

I think there is something jammed in your sewing machine: motor belt, bobbine, gears. etc. Try desconnect it from main and clean it. Then try to rotate it forwards and backwards looking for the part that is stuck. Some times the nylon gears breaks and get the machine out of order and stuck.

If so, have you troubleshot the pedal itself? Perhaps a wire could be broken. I'd do this by disconnecting the pedal completely and seeing if the machine will sew when you press the manual start and stop sewing button to to sew forward.

On the plug in part that plugs into the machine, from the foot pedal, around the metal rod, is a tiny lip of black plastic. This needs to be cut off around the metal rod that inserts into the machine. The little thickness of the plastic, about 1/16 of an inch, is preventing the metal rod from the foot pedal from making proper contact by not allowing it to go far enough into the plugin hole. Take a small knife or razor blade and cut that little piece off. I just got lucky figuring it out. Happy Sewing---Jesse 12-31-2016

My C240 was doing something similar, just beeping, not picking up a stitch, the needle wasnt coming down. Apparently I twisted/ broke the cord for the foot pedal. When I disconnected the wire, and used the button on the machine to sew, it worked. Will have to get a new pedal if I want to use that method.

Thanks to the world's first vertically-driven digital feed mechanism, the feed dog height can be adjusted with ease according to the material fabric of product to be sewn, thereby improving seam quality. Thanks to this digital feed mechanism, thread trimming is carried out with the feed dog lowered in the case the shorter-thread remaining thread trimming function is enabled.

The feed dog does not protrude the top surface of throat plate when the sewing machine stops with its needle bar up, thereby facilitating placement/removal of the material on/from the top surface of throat plate and preventing the material from being damaged by the feed dog.

Needle thread tension which matches sewing conditions given can be set on the operation panel and stored in memory. The needle thread tension adjustment needs experience. However, for this the DDL-900C, thread tension data stored in memory is reproducible, thereby reducing the setup time when the product to be sewn is changed. Example: Needle-thread active tension demonstrates its effectiveness in the topstitching process. For welting shoulders of a difficult-to-sew material, uniform stitches can be produced continuously by appropriately changing the sewing conditions even if the right and left material fabric differ in texture grain.

The DDL-9000C has a digital control system that controls the presser foot pressure. Under the automatic mode, the multi-layered section detection function detects changes in material thickness to increase/decrease the presser foot pressure accordingly. Under the manual mode, the presser foot pressure control function is assigned to the hand switch to enable operation with the hand switch.

The device clamps the needle thread and draws it under the material at the beginning of sewing. The needle thread clamp device works to reduce the size of thread tangling in on the wrong side of the material. This expands the area around the needle entry, thereby allowing the use of various gauge components.

Data on the DDL-9000C sewing machine adjustments made according to the product to be sewn can be transferred to a commercially-available Android tablet in contactless mode. This enables quick check for uniform settings as well as confirmation of conditions of sewing machines in a sewing line, thereby facilitating setup changes.

The operation panel is also provided as standard with a USB port. Data management and software update can be carried out with ease using a USB thumb drive. Data items of sewing can be numerically managed to ensure "stable quality" and "reduction in time required for setup changes". Quantified sewing data can be externally taken from the sewing machine using an Android tablet or USB thumb drive.

The LED light illuminates the needle entry area in the just-under direction from the right and left sides of the needle bar. In comparison with the single-direction illumination, this LED light helps the operator carry out sewing more easily. Illuminance of the LED light is adjustable in five levels. It can also be used as an auxiliary lamp for working.

British textile artist Jacky Puzey combines traditional embroidery skills with digital technology to stitch beautiful bespoke embroidered artworks and luxury interior pieces. Inspired by urban flora and fauna and her love of pattern and cultural history, her timeless pieces feature a menagerie of embellished creatures. Jacky translates her stunning drawings into digital machine embroidery, informed by her training in Fine Art (painting and installation), textiles and bespoke tailoring. Here she explains this fascinating process.

The Jack A6F is a single needle, needle feed lockstitch machine designed for lightweight to medium-weight applications. Needle feed mechanisms are especially useful when sewing multiple layers of lightweight delicate fabrics or slippery fabrics; the needle feed prevents offset layers and puckering.

The A6F was designed with our "Semi-Dry" lubricating oil system technology, virtually eliminating the risk of oil contamination on fabrics. The A6F features several automatic functions designed to increase operator productivity and reduce fatigue. Suitable of sewing on a wide variety of materials from lightweight blouses to denim jeans with ease. Built on the same all steel chassis all Jack machines are famous for, the harmonized internals driven by the coaxial direct drive motor reduce vibrations and noise at all sewing speeds.

Serving the sewn products industry for over 30 years with most well known brands of industrial sewing machines, parts and supplies. Fast set-up and shipping times on in-stock equipment. Large inventory on hand. Technical support and custom setup on automated equipment.

In preparation for writing this guide, I spoke to several sewing professionals to get their advice and personal requirements for a good machine. This group included sewing teacher Lana Lu of SewLeana, professional tailor and jeans-making queen Lauren Taylor, tailor and workwear designer Kelly Hogaboom, sewist and accessibility advocate Samantha Waude, and sewing-ergonomics expert Rose Parr.

To assemble an initial list of models for potential testing, I consulted recommendations from publications such as Good Housekeeping and The Strategist, scoured Reddit and the forums on PatternReview.com, looked at reviews from Amazon and Joann customers, and polled sewing friends near and far, in person, over email, and on Instagram, where the modern sewing community is alive and well. I also asked sewing machine manufacturers about their best sellers and fan favorites.

For this guide, we focused on machines that cost $500 or less and were simple enough for beginners to use but had features and options that more advanced sewists might be able to take advantage of. We also prioritized versatility, seeking out flexible machines that could work well on a variety of fabric and project types.

Adjustable needle position: This feature allows you to move the needle off-center (to the left or right) while straight-stitching, which is helpful to get professional-looking edge stitching and essential for precise stitch placement on tiny surfaces as in lingerie sewing or detail work.

Thorough manual: A great manual is clearly written, offering general use instructions, troubleshooting tips, maintenance guidelines, and advice regarding what stitches to use when. Be wary of machines with skimpy or poorly written manuals, since they probably portend other issues with support down the road.

Built-in needle threader: Most machines come with a built-in needle-threading mechanism to save sewists the often frustrating work of grappling with the tiny eye. However, in practice, some of these mechanisms are fussier to use than just doing it yourself. Still, if you have poor eyesight, a good needle threader can be a huge help, no matter how finicky it is.

In updating this guide, I put our 12 candidate machines through their paces and came out the other side with a dress, a jumpsuit, an athleisure ensemble, a backpack, a tote with many useful pockets, a pair of overalls, a quilt, and a pile of finished mending and alterations that had been staring at me pleadingly from their basket of shame for far too long.
