For the benefit of others. Please check and recheck and get feedback on the builder before you commit. The situation is such that the homeowner is always at the losing end- its not easy to change builder midway. It costs a lot and there is "downtime" as well.

Like to share my extremely unpleasant and terrible experience in engaging this builder to build my house. What appeared to be a simple build to be completed in 14 months has now dragged to 48 months and yet not complete.

REFUSING TO PAY subcontractors money that had been paid to the main con --- causing delay after delay AND LEAVING WORK HALF DONE. Couldn't care less attitude. Behaving like a thug! challenges owner to sue him!

To share about there alot of interior design companies. As what I know most of them just newbies learned from big interior firm least than 1 to 2 years started up their own. Claimed they have many experiences many projects done ongoing.

Recently friend introduced this design company I EUPHORIC DESIGN. The so called boss dyed red hair guy, look more like subcontractor or hooligan than ID designer. Act as looking for reno works, his design layout plan proposal sucks. Which paying for ID firm amount and got subcon design? Still requesting payment by PAYNOW to his personal account. WTF...

Checked Arca bizfile registered address, as my brother working next building he went alook WTF again... its a car dealers showroom and he took a photo send me. OMG... photo showed so called ID design boss was working as cars washers.

When the guy came over to take measurements, we talked about what I wanted for the windows. Our house is a corridor unit with a spectacular view but I also value privacy a lot so I wanted reflective film (the kind on TV, in interrogation room). He told me those were fake & that the most similar he could recommend was a reflective tinted glass. He said that during the day, if the lights in the house are switched off, people wouldn't be able to see whats going on in the house. I made sure to triple confirm (verbal confirmation) that people wouldn't be able to see the inside of the house. He confirmed it and I agreed to go ahead. $3800 for 4rm flat, 137sqf windows.

After the windows were installed, we went down to take a look. WAH MY HOUSE IS LIKE A FREE SHOW FOR ALL MY NEIGHBOURS. People don't even need to try they can see everything that goes on in my house from the outside. (Pic attached) I was livid! My ID got the fella to call me. He started shouting at me saying "How can it be I say got no such thing as reflective film," "How can it be I say cannot see into the house?" even after i said this is a he say she say situation, and asked for a solution. No solution was given BTW. He simply said he'll take a look and hung up my call.

My husband then complained till the boss called us. Explained the whole situation to her. She went down personally to eval our windows. She told us that reflective film wouldn't work for us & ppl would still be able to look into the house - told us to get frosted instead. We agreed with frosted and said she'll settle it on their end. They then proceeded to send an invoice to my ID for $2500 for frosted film! (FILM ONLY, 137SQF)

ID by name- I don't see the "design" in designer. And IDs are supposed to be experts in their field but there didn't seem much sound advice to homeowner in the renovation journey. Could barely coordinate and run on schedule without having homeowner keep chasing. Whole project delayed by more than 300% of agreed timeline. Payment was made on time but firm just can't get their act together. Every homeowner's expectations will be different but their completed work is below what I would readily accept. This is just frustrating.

It would be helpful to share the name of Reno company to preempt other home owners. I am currently also going through a very painful process with my ID with customer service level that sucks. It seems like many homeowners have bad experiences and if I do have the chance to do another house Reno. I would rather spend a bit more time and effort to coordinate my own reno than to go through a so-called ID firm where most of them are only main cons.

Terrible work attitude, he will just brush off all your questions. Very rude. Drawers ended up shaky. Said he will provide 50 kg load tracks but carpenters said they only receive 20 kg tracks. Refuse to upgrade saying "it's like that".

For those of you who have renovated your house (either recently or in the past), what are some traumatic events you experienced during the renovation process? Was it an ID from ****? Terrible contractor? Do share your thoughts with us!

With renovation being one of the large ticket items for Singaporean couples, a trustworthy interior designing contractor is important. In the first 7 months of the year 2017, a total contract value of $8,420,000 was received over renovation complaints.

As a CaseTrust accredited firm, CK Choo, the Ops and Finance lead at Azcendant highlights that they are required to adhere to limits on the percentage of payment for each stage. Do keep in mind that the percentage of payments varies across firms.

Even for firms without accreditations such as CaseTrust, Robin shares that the initial deposit for contracts under $150,000 usually ranges from 5% to 10% and shared a typical breakdown that is similar to the above sample contract.

Robin shares that based on statistics and his personal experience, there is a higher chance that companies managed by those with less than three years of experience in the industry have a higher chance of closing down.

These essentially refer to works that were not included in the original signed contract, regardless of whether you want to add on some works or if you want to remove something during the renovation process.
