Bestplace to grab all your safety and Survival gear for your boat or for your job.

I have all my liferafts serviced with LRSE, they always go above and beyond to ensure I'm satisfied.

Definitely check out the showroom!

The staff was amazing! They helped me with exactly what I needed for my job as a merchant mariner. They were compatible in price and honored their word. It was a great experience I certainly will use them in the future for any safety needs I have.

Great Customer Service. Wish I had started by buying the personal AIS unit from them. They helped me debug what I had bought from Defender (and it was non-operational), and helped install what I bought to replace. Left feeling confident that I've made myself findable in an MOB situation. Safety equipment is not something to acquire from an online warehouse.

I have been a customer of Life Raft & Survival Equipment for many years. I'm a blue-water sailor and boat owner and safety equipment is very important to me. The people at LRSE are extremely knowledgeable about the whole area of safety and emergency equipment, what works and what doesn't. Their service and turnaround is superb. I highly recommend LRSE for all aspects of marine safety equipment.

Personal touch service. Caring and knowledgable professionals in all positions. Thanks for letting me video my raft unpack. It is a valuable asset for my boat program. I can go offshore knowing I have a liferaft that I know and can trust.

You've had an emergency on your vessel at sea, and now you and your passengers have piled into your life raft. After taking a head count and checking for injuries, you'll want to take inventory of your supplies. So, what items are packed inside a life raft? This is a loaded question; depending on whether you have a commercial or recreational life raft and the particular model you have will determine the contents inside.

Requirements from the US Coast Guard or international SOLAS regulations determine many items inside a commercial raft's emergency pack. The amount and type of emergency equipment depend on which raft you have - usually based on how far you plan to go offshore. If you plan on purchasing an inflatable buoyant apparatus (IBA) for commercial use, you can expect the included equipment to be bare-bones. These rafts contain small equipment packs inside. You'll find very basic items like a repair kit, manual pump, signal mirror, flashlight, extra batteries, and sometimes hand flares.

Similar to an IBA, a commercial USCG-approved coastal life raft will contain one small equipment pack. A coastal life raft is essentially an IBA with a canopy attached overhead. A coastal raft usually includes the same items found inside an IBA. IBAs and Coastal rafts are best for vessels that intend to stay inshore, typically in more heavily trafficked areas, where swift rescue is likely in the case of an emergency.

The next step above IBA or Coastal rafts is a SOLAS life raft. SOLAS rafts have approvals for vessels traveling farther offshore and contain additional equipment. SOLAS rafts are available with either SOLAS A or SOLAS B equipment packs. SOLAS equipment packs include items useful in an offshore emergency, such as signal flares, fishing kits, repair kits, food and water rations, etc. In general, a commercial vessel operating within 50 miles of shore in US waters would be covered with a SOLAS B pack.

For federally documented commercial vessels looking to travel beyond 50 miles, the Coast Guard requires that the life raft on board contains a SOLAS A emergency pack. SOLAS A emergency packs are the most extensive packs for commercial rafts, containing all of the above equipment found in a SOLAS B plus several items. A SOLAS A pack includes twice the number of distress signals and the addition of food and water rations.

Recreational liferafts have a wide range of varying equipment depending on the particular brand and model. Since the US Coast Guard does not regulate recreational life rafts, these rafts are not required to include any specific survival supplies inside. The manufacturer determines the equipment inside their recreational raft models, which is usually in line with the distance from shore the raft is designed to be used. Coastal recreational life rafts will contain little-to-no equipment inside them; one can expect to see a flashlight, spare batteries, a first aid kit, anti-seasickness tablets and bags, a couple of hand flares, etc. The Superior Life-Saving Coastal Surge is an excellent example of a recreational coastal life raft with a basic survival pack.

A recreational raft that contains an offshore equipment pack will have all the same equipment found in a coastal raft in more significant quantities, plus a few extras (food and water rations, parachute flares, fishing kit). Recreational life rafts that hold ISO approval may contain a few survival items required under ISO requirements (thermal protective aids). The Superior Life-Saving Offshore Stream is an excellent example of a recreational offshore life raft that contains the equipment pack below.

There are many other equipment pack variations in recreational and ISO-approved liferafts, but that should give you a general idea of what to expect. Epic Games and Lego unveiled Lego Fortnite, a brick-based survival game with crafting, combat, and more, back in December. Now, the companies have unveiled a new way to experience Lego in Fortnite: Lego Islands. Available today, Lego Islands is a family-friendly, all-ages play experience that sits alongside (and separate) from Lego Fortnite, and it's kicking off with two islands.

The first is Lego Raft Survival. Created in Unreal Editor for Fortnite, Raft Survival "combines frenetic multiplayer problem solving with the classic Lego Pirates theme, as the infamous Blackbeard challenges players and their friends to stay afloat on a raft in unfriendly waters," a press release reads. Players must survive on their raft against cannon balls shot from Blackbeard's Barracuda ship, all while collecting wood and treasures as resources and building more rafts.

The second island available starting today is Lego Obby Fun. Epic Games calls it the first official Lego-themed obstacle course in Fortnite, stating it "offers a Lego-inspired take on climbing and problem solving through brick-built platforms designed by actual Lego designers and packed with hot dogs, pizzas, unicorns, and much more."

Players are spawned randomly on a section of a course inspired by popular Lego themes, like Lego Friends, Lego City, Lego Ninjago, and Lego DreamZzz, and "the experience offers a different challenge each time to put their skills to the test, either solo or with friends."
