I was wondering if you've considered adding a plugin or add on that can connect to the Philips Hue light bulbs to slowly raise the light when the alarm goes off. They have a REST API and it's super easy to setup your app to register with the wireless bridge that controls the bulbs. Then it's as simple as sending an HTTP PUT to the bridge with a pre-configured JSON payload that sends the bring up the lights event. I'd be happy to help in any way possible with testing or anything else.

Thanks for all the great work on this fantastic app, especially Pebble support!

Hello Adam,

integrating with some room smart light is one of the thinks on our TODO. But I'm not sure if we can do this any time soon as there are many devices. But I'm sure with a little tweaking and an automation app such as Tasker or similar you can achieve this behavior. Please consult our API doc for more details https://sites.google.com/site/sleepasandroid/doc/developer-api.

Thank you very much.

Best regards,

Petr

Hot damn there's an API? I love it, I'll see what I can whip up with Tasker.

Thanks again!

Adam, post here if you have success with that. I'm no code jocky so the path way from here for me is hard to see. But, the Phillips HUE lighting concept could be a very large deployed base as time goes on.  I know, in my house I have 6 of the LED bulbs now and am just watching to see durability performance. If they turn up half as good as represented they could be my go to light as I replace the incandescents and CFL's. By the by,if you haven't seen "HUE Pro" that is a very nice scheduling package available on Google Play. (Oh! and check out their "lava lamp" additional DLC.)

Cool. I was just thinking this morning that integration of a Philips Hue with sleep-as-android would be fantastic.  I'd like to be able to program the light to wake me up with the alarm (slowly ramping), then to remain on for say 30 minutes before going off.

Then perhaps turn on again when it's bedtime with an appropriate hue...

Interested to see how this turns out.

A.

I've successfully setup tasker to turn on hue using sleep as android for a month now, here's how I do it:

Requirements
Tasker
RESTask for Tasker - a plugin for tasker found in the play store
sleep as android - duh
The username to connect to the Hue bridge

Start up tasker and create a new profile. Mine for example is day of the week Monday - Friday, connected to my wifi, and intent received com.urbandroid.sleep.alarmclock.ALARM_ALERT_START
Then create a task using the plugin to make an HTTP Put request with the payload of your choice. I have mine slowly ramp up from off to fully bright blue over 15 minutes. It works fairly well.

If you need further help I can write up a more detailed doc, but it may require some python code I wrote. Don't worry if that sounds too daunting I can write a very detailed step by step.

Hello guys,

thank you very much for the details. As an alternative we have prepared an experimental build-in support for Philips HUE. This is part of the version we are currently rolling out (10% now). If it did not yet reach you, you can get the latest version by joining our BETATesters community at G+:

You can join the community and than opt-in at the following address to recieve beta version through Play Store

Here is a video on how it works with the alarm in the morning

Here are details on what is supported:

It would be great if you decide to give it a try and let us know some feedback.

Thank you very much.

Best regards,

Petr

Hello,

sorry for the later response.

1.This is something on our TODO list. I did add a new idea on our feature request forums here, so you can up-vote it
https://urbandroid.uservoice.com/forums/264867-sleep-as-android/suggestions/6503435-allow-more-philips-hue-light-bulbs-to-be-configure

2. You can create a silent alarm - silent ringtone and no vibration - so that only lights are effective, but it is always good to keep at least the backup alarm sound..

3. This is definitely something I would like to see too. Putting it to my personal TODO..

4. This actually respects your gradual volume settings so if you may a longer period the whole process will take longer...

Thank you very much.

Hello,

I bought Sleep As Android because of this feature and there are some things that could be improve from my point of view.

  1. As for right now I can only get one of my Philips Hues at a time to wake me up. But it would obviously be nice if all the Lights in my bedroom would light up so the light would be brighter. So it would be really nice if I could decide which lights are included in the alarm
  2. I could only get the alarm to work together with an alarmtone. But it would also be nice to have the possibility to just wake me up with light.
  3. Like with the original Philips Wakeup Light it would be nice if there alarm would start of with the light increasing and then, after it reched the full white brightness, would start playing the alarm sound in case I didnt wake up just from the light
  4. Some more options like the duration of the fade-in, the color/brightness it should start with and the color/brightness it should have at the end would also be great.

Please tell me if some of these features are already included and I just didnt use the app right. Thank you for your great work so far and I hope to see some of these features soon :)
