I love this feature and have used it for about 2 years now. I used to have the 1st generation Philips Hue White & Color Ambiance, but upgraded to the newest 3rd generation, which has a wider range of brightness levels and also better colors. I've noticed that with this newest 3rd generation bulb, Sleep as Android's sunrise-like wake up doesn't really use any color. If I remember correctly, with the 1st gen bulb it seemed to start with a reddish glow, where-as now with this 3rd generation bulb it starts with a standard incandescent type of warm white color and brightens from there, so there's really not much color change during the "sunrise", no red to speak of for example. Should the software be updated to allow it to take advantage of the wider spectrum of the newer Hue bulbs, e.g. with an extra setting, as it seems feeding the same settings from the app with the different bulb versions of bulbs produces different results, and unfortunately inferior results on the newer bulbs?

Thank you!

Hello, many thanks for pointing this our. In fact we did make the sunrise consistent accross bulbs using only color temperature. But I did just now implement better support for color bulbs to use some more hue which may be more attractive. Would you be willing to give it a try. in fact the app now recognizes different bulb types and uses different settings..

The APK to try is here:

Thank you very much.

Thank you for looking into this! So I downloaded the beta APK. I don't notice any difference in the sunrise from the alarm, there's still no reddish hue in the sequence. When I hit "Test" in the Phillips HUE section though it cycles between a dim red and a middle-brightness red, just back and forth. It seems to me like the app is simulating sunrise as if the bulb was a "Hue White Ambiance" bulb, given the lack of color. It looks like it's starting on a warm white, and with brightness of around 10-15% (not at the actual minimum brightness of my bulb).
