Session stop responding sometimes

Dear Experts,

I am using sleekxmpp to build application. My connection needs to stay for long time. However, I found that the connection would be lost after some time.

How can I know that my messages are sent or can I do exceptional case for handling them?

Actually I am looking at XEP_0198. Am I getting on right direction?

Besides, can you give me an example of using XEP_0198 plugin?
